The term “chiropractic” combines the Greek words cheir (hand) and praxis (practice) to describe a treatment done by hand. It is a hands-on therapy focusing on the adjustment of the spine. Chiropractic is based on the belief that the relationship between the body’s structure (primarily that of the spine) and its function (as coordinated by the nervous system) affects health.
Spinal adjustment—mostly through manual means, by using the hands, is a core treatment technique in chiropractic care. There are several treatments used by our chiropractors that use special tools and instruments developed specifically for it. Some of these are dry needling, soft tissue therapy, electro acupuncture, flexion distraction, activator technique, pelvic blocks, arthrostim and peripheral adjustments.
A typical visit with our chiropractors, if it is your first time, they will first perform a routine physical examination to identify your current state of health. If the chiropractor determines that chiropractic is appropriate and will benefit the patient, a treatment plan will be presented to the patient with a first visit treatment. The great thing about our philosophy is we allow your body to direct the longevity of treatment, depending on how well your body responds to treatment. We do not specify that you need a certain number of treatments.
