The team at Sydney Wide Allied Health Clinic is here to support your health. Often, people come to a chiropractor because they’re experiencing some type of pain. You might guess that one of the most common conditions seen by a chiropractor is back pain. These patients make up a large part of our practice, and we’re well-versed in how to address many forms of back pain.
Chiropractors are experts in the evaluation and care of back pain and other spinal problems. We modify our care based on each patient’s age, condition and unique spinal issue. That enables us to help people of all ages.
Do you sit at a desk all day, as so many do now for work? It’s tough on your body. If you have improper posture or ergonomics, these effects are heightened. Tradespeople are also hard on their bodies, often performing laborious tasks such as repetitive lifting. If you aren’t lifting in the right way, you may experience serious pain. If any of these sound like you and are causing you discomfort anywhere in your back, a chiropractor may be able to offer you a solution.
You’ve likely heard by now that sitting is not great for your health. Whether you’re working at a desk or just spending a bit too much time on the couch, not moving has serious effects on your well-being. If you aren’t exercising and make poor health choices, you’ll have more severe problems.
There are other factors that play a role in whether you have pain, too, such as obesity, medications that wear your joints down and more
The first step is to determine the cause of your pain. It may be a disc in your spine, a muscle, a ligament, a joint or a combination of all. Once we know where your pain is coming from, our chiropractor will be able to recommend the appropriate treatment, tailoring what we do to your individual needs.
Disc-related problems typically benefit from having traction.
Muscles need a combination approach of massage, dry needling, mobilisation stretching and dry needling
Ligaments require muscle work, along with exercises or stretches.
Joints can be manipulated and traction may also be beneficial.
The following conditions are common causes of low back pain:
• Poor posture and weak core often caused by a lack of exercise and sedentary lifestyles
• Lack of exercise
• Spinal injuries
• Heavy lifting
• Sciatica
When joint misalignment or dysfunction occurs in the spine, symptoms including pain can show up in various parts of the body—especially your back.
There are several techniques used by our chiropractors to help restore joint function and mobility. Some of these are dry needling, soft tissue therapy, electro acupuncture, flexion distraction, activator technique, pelvic blocks, arthrostim and peripheral adjustments.
Our approach to care is always gentle, and we aim to give your body exactly what it needs.
